I have developed my teaching philosophy from years of teaching freshman composition and technical communication to both young adults in dual enrollment courses and adults in post-secondary education. My teaching philosophy is as follows
My goal is for my students to experience multifaceted growth in composition and rhetoric within their discipline, in academia, and in their professional lives.
I see my role as a teacher as their challenger. My place is to edify and motivate students towards higher standards, deeper understandings, and more effective applications of the principles of writing in any and every situation.
I see my students as rhetoricians with the potential to improve their vision of effective communication and develop writing and reading skills to accomplish their own personal goals.
I believe every student is capable of improving their rhetorical choices to have a positive and lasting influence on their societies, and my job is to challenge them to do that in each of our meetings.
Below are examples of syllabi I have used previously.
